TENDER HEARTS SWEETHEART BALL!!! Try your luck with an evening of fun, Casino Night, Silent Auction, and much more!!! WILMINGTON, DEL. (PRWEB) JANUARY 15, 2019
Medically fragile children are becoming an increasing part of the population especially in our area with its high saturation of state-of- the-art children’s hospitals. Providing care for a medically fragile child with chronic health care conditions is not only very emotional, but also very expensive. From mounting medical bills, special needs, employment stability, and the general emotional toll, it is challenging and daunting.
With this in mind, the Doherty Family founded Tender Hearts, Inc., a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation. The Doherty Family has made it their mission to support children with diverse medical needs in order to create a better quality of life in Delaware for them. “Thereare so many children that are born with disabilities, injuries, and/or diseases. These little angels were never given the opportunity to grow their wings and become healthy,” said Debbie Doherty, Founder and Chairperson of Tender Hearts.

As part of its mission, Tender Hearts hosts several fundraisers every year, to include an annual 5K Family Fun Day, to support its cause. One of the hallmark events on the charity’s calendar is the Sweetheart Ball, which takes shape as a black tie optional Ball. This year, the Sweetheart Ball will be held on Saturday, February 16 –days after Valentine’s Day. What better way to spread the organization’s message than to spread love to children in the community who need it most?
The proceeds from Tender Hearts’ fundraisers are used to promote the specific focus of improving the mobility of medically fragile children, with the ambition of providing a better quality of life. Tender Hearts uses funds that are raised to pay for qualifyingchildren’s necessary prescriptions, life-saving medical equipment, clothing, and of course, during the holidays, toys. The organizationis also very closely affiliated with Nemours Children’s Hospital and our members routinely volunteer at the Ronald McDonald Houseand Nemours Children’s Hospital. Tender Hearts is the proud sponsor of several of their programs under the Child Life Department at Nemours. Not only for educational purposes but support, encouragement and financial means.
The Sweetheart Ball will be hosted on Saturday, February 16 from 6:30 pm – 11:30 pm at the Waterfall Banquet & Conference Center on Philadelphia Pike in Wilmington, Delaware. The fundraiser will have a casino night theme, featuring table games includingBlackjack, Roulette, Craps, and Texas Hold’em. There will also be a silent auction, raffles, photo booth, dinner and drinks, as well asDJ’d entertainment and dancing.
Tickets for the evening are $125.00, which includes a complimentary $25.00 chip to gamble with. The organization has acquired several very exciting and valuable items for auction. A reminder, $100.00 of the ticket is tax deductible – so when combined with the complimentary chip, entry will technically cost a mere $25.00.
Tender Hearts, Inc., can only achieve its goals with the assistance of generous donations from members of our community. The organization relies on the generosity of individuals and local businesses. TENDER HEARTS HOSTS GALA TO BENEFIT EXCEPTIONAL CARE FOR CHILDREN
Wilmington, DE (October 9, 2015) Medically-fragile children and their families are an integral part of our community as a result of our proximity to state-of-the-art children’s hospitals. Families providing care for a medically-fragile child with complex health conditions are often overwhelmed emotionally and financially. Frequent hospitalizations, coordination of care, stress on the family unit, maintaining employment, and mounting medical bills create multiple challenges.
With this in mind, the Doherty family has founded Tender Hearts, Inc., a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation. The Dohertys have made it their mission to support children with medically-fragile needs in order to create a better quality of life for them. “There are so many children who are born with disabilities, injuries, and/or diseases. These little angels were never given the opportunity to grow their wings and become healthy,” said Debbie Doherty, Founder and Chairperson of Tender Hearts.

As part of our mission, each year Tender Hearts, Inc., in a joint effort with Doherty & Associates, Inc., works to find an organization to support and hold a charity fundraiser! This year we are pleased to announce Exceptional Care for children as our 2015 organization. “This decision seemed like an immediate fit”, said Mike Doherty, president of Tender Hearts. “Our mission to help medically-fragile children is right in line with what this marvelous facility embodies”
Exceptional Care for Children, ECC, a local facility set on 7.7 tranquil acres in Newark, DE, is determined to provide a home for children who are medically-fragile and technology dependent. They are listed amongst the top 100 nursing homes in the country according to US News and World Report and they provide transitional, long-term and palliative or end-of-life care to these inspiring children in a home-like environment. Children who are medically-fragile may require tube feedings, oxygen therapy, suctioning, tracheostomy care, or a ventilator. They may have limited mobility and require special health care support. This is where ECC makes a difference. ECC currently features 31 unique and beautiful bedrooms along with colorful living rooms and cheerful program spaces, but the organization is working to raise support for an expanded and enhanced therapy and education space. With this additional space, ECC will have an opportunity to continue providing children with innovative and impactful programming. The organization strives each day to meet its mission statement which reads: “Exceptional Care for Children provides a haven for healing fragile bodies when improvement is possible and a refuge for nurturing vulnerable spirits when a cure is unattainable”. “Exceptional Care for Children is honored to be a part of Tender Hearts’ first charity fundraiser. We are grateful for their support and look forward to this exciting event” said Annette Moore, Nursing Home Administrator.
In an effort to assist ECC with fundraising for their continued expansion, Tender Hearts, Inc. in joint effort with Doherty & Associates, Inc. is hosting a “Casino Night” Black Tie Optional Gala on Friday November 6th at the Waterfall Banquet & Conference Center on Philadelphia Pike in Wilmington, DE from 6:30 pm – 11:30 pm. There will be casino tables, a silent auction, raffles, photo booth, dinner and drinks, as well DJ’d entertainment and dancing.
Tender Hearts, Inc., can only achieve its goals with the assistance of generous donations from members of our community. The organization relies on the generosity of individuals and local businesses. We ask you to consider a donation to our cause through a sponsorship, silent auction item, or attending our event.
“We’ve already seen such an outpouring from the community,” said Debbie Doherty. “Sponsors such as WSTW, Comcast, ADP, Joe Lumi, Inc., Del Haven Jewelers, Pop Dots, and Elite Athletic Fitness have been tremendously generous. We also have been donated some amazing items for our silent auction”.
“This is a fun way to give to a great cause,” said Kate Fox of Tender Hearts. “In addition to a great evening the ticket price of $125.00 includes a $25.00 chip to gamble with, silent auction items, and tons of raffles. Since $75.00 of your ticket is tax deductible, when you do the math it’s like paying $25.00.”
